    Department of Music Colloquia provide a weekly forum for presentation and discussion of recent research by distinguished visitors and by CWRU faculty and graduate students in musicology, historical performance practice, and music education. Fridays at 4:00 p.m. in Harkness Chapel, Classroom (except where noted). Free and open to the public. Receptions follow.

    Klezmer Music Ensemble Concert

    April 23rd 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM

    Yiddish Khasene: A Celebration of the East European Jewish Wedding

    Location: Harkness Chapel

    A concert featuring klezmer music that was performed at traditional East European Jewish weddings (khasene). The repertoire includes artistic melodies to greet and honor the wedding guests (mazltov, dobriden), virtuosic table songs (tish nigunim), music to bid everyone a fond farewell (dobranotsh, zay gezunt, gute nakht) and more.

    Baroque Orchestra Concert

    April 22nd 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM

    Location: Harkness Chapel

    The Case Western Reserve University Baroque Orchestra, featuring CWRU and CIM students, performs music of the 18th century.

    Free and open to the public. Paid parking available in the Ford Avenue garage, Severance Hall garage or at the meters along Bellflower Road and East Blvd.

    Location: Denison Hall, Spartan Rehearsal Hall (1650 East 115th St)

    A collaborative concert featuring the Jazz Ensembles and the Case Western Reserve University Camerata Chamber Orchestra. This event will be held in the newly constructed Spartan Rehearsal Hall in the Denison Hall Facility. Free and open to the public.

    Romantic Brilliance

    Location: Maltz Performing Arts Center, Silver Hall

    A program featuring Concerto Competition winner Timothy Orlando performing Henri Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto No. 2 in D minor, Op. 22.  Other innovative works on this concert include Ludwig van Beethoven’s Leonore Overture No. 3, Op. 72b and and Franz Liszt’s Les Preludes.

    In celebration of one of the great turning points in music history, the historical performance program’s music and dance ensembles will explore Italian music and dance from the first decades of the 17th century.

    In conjunction with the annual meeting of the Society for Seventeenth-Century Music.
