Feng Li Laughlin (Phoenix) , a graduate student in Dr. Protasiewicz's group, gets married on 9-9-09. Even more interesting, Dr P gives the bride away!.


2009: Maria Chan
Maria Chan, a brilliant high school student from Cleveland Heights who worked in our labs learning small molecule X-ray crystallography, is accepted into college at MIT
MIT.


2009: Vittal Babu Gudimetla
Babu, earns his PhD degree, and moves on to postdoctoral position at Rice University with Professor Paul Engel Congrats! Dr. G.!

2009: Former graduate student Rhett Smith, now on the faculty at Clemson University, receives prestigious 2009 NSF CAREER award prestigious NSF CAREER award. Way to go Rhett!


2008: Robert J. Gilliard
Robert J. Gilliard, a chemistry undergraduate from Clemson University, joins the Protasiewicz group for the Summer 2008 as an ACS PRF fellowship.

2008: Dr. P succumbs to pressure and becomes Associate Chair of Chemistry Department.

Some Pictures of my Spring-Summer '04 sabbatical at Oxford University in the Mountford Research Laboratory

A brief overview of our research projects is given below.

Inorganic, Organic, Main Group, Materials, Polymer, Catalysis, Organometallic Chemistry, and X-ray Crystallography

Our work is aimed at understanding the fundamental details of transition-metal catalyzed atom and group transfer reactions and to use this knowledge for the development of new catalytic reactions and for the construction of novel materials. Our approach involves the rational design of new reagents and ligands for achieving these goals. Our research cuts through the traditional boundaries of Organic, Inorganic, Organometallic and Main Group Chemistry.
