The footer includes three elements: footer links, site owner sign-off text, and the university signoff text. Please observe the following guidelines when adapting these elements for your site:

Footer Links
In general, footer links provide access to pages and information that is of lesser importance or prominence than links in the primary navigation. This may be because the footer links are not central to the audience's information needs or the site's purpose. Some footer links simply provide supporting or behind-the-scenes information. Some examples of typical footer links include:
- About Us
- Contact Us
- Staff List
- Partners & Sponsors
- Press Releases
- Job Openings
- Site Map
Footer navigation should be global across your site, that is, it should appear on every page.
Site Owner Signoff Text
Identifying and providing contact information for the organization that publishes or sponsors the site reassures users that the content is credible. Alter this text to meet the needs of your site, but consider including some combination of the following:
- Name of the department, office, group, or organizational unit that owns and publishes the site content.
- Address, telephone numbers, e-mail, or other contact information for the above.
- Link to a parent site (where appropriate). A parent site is usually the site published by an organizational unit to which your site belongs. For example:
- a.) A "Peer Writing Center" site might include in its footer the text "Part of: the English Department" (with a link);
- b.) and the English Department might include in its site footer the text "Part of: The College of Arts & Sciences" (with a link).
University Signoff
The University signoff completes the footer and should be the last item on every page. The signoff copyrights the material, builds credibility, and reinforces the site's identity as part of Case Western Reserve University. Please do not alter or remove the signoff.
