New directors appointed
to regional economic issues center
Case Western
Reserve University's Weatherhead School of Management has appointed
Scott Shane as a full-time professor in its economics
department and Edward M. Morrison as executive director of the
Weatherhead Center for Regional Economic Issues (REI).
Shane, who will
also serve as academic director of REI, is one of the nation's leading
scholars in the study of entrepreneurship
and technology
transfer. He comes to Weatherhead from the Robert H. Smith School
of Business at the University of Maryland where he served as
Chairman of the Entrepreneurship Department.
As the new executive director, Morrison replaces the late Richard
A. Shatten who died in 2002.
An economic development consultant for 18 years, Morrison
has developed strategies
for organizations around the country and manages a joint venture
in China for American investors. He is also the founder of the
Greater China Business Network Inc., the Oklahoma Business Network
and the
Ouachita Enterprise Corp.
