The surface parking area at the West Quad is one of the most inexpensive
campus parking options. It will feature a new security tower with a
sheltered shuttle stop. Two campus shuttles, operating at about 10-minute
intervals, will service the lot from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through
Friday.
Margaret Perry, CWRU's manager of parking, said the cost of permits
for University-owned lots will increase just 4 percent overall this
year, compared to 6 and 7 percent the last two years. University Circle
Inc., which owns lots 36, 41, 43, 45, 49 and S-54 and 54D, has decided
to implement varying, more aggressive rate increases for 2003-2004 as
in previous years.
New monthly parking rates, which are being rounded for the first time
this year, range from $26.75 for lot 36, near the Children's Museum
of Cleveland, and lot 46, at Bellflower Road and East 115th Street,
to $113 for lots S-10, near Crawford Hall, and S-55, the parking garage
at Cornell Road and Circle Drive. The lot 14 permit will cost $30.
In addition to helping defray the costs of renovating the West Quad
lot 14, Perry said the parking rate increase will help fund the construction
of the new 1,200-car north campus parking garage, which is scheduled
to open in spring 2005, and enhanced camera and monitoring security
systems for all campus parking lots.
In order for work to begin on the new north campus parking garage and
first phase of north residential village construction, faculty, staff
and students currently parking in lot 46 will be transferred to lot
14 at the end of the fall semester.
Perry said Access Services will update permit holders with information
about the closing and new assignments during the semester.
