Approximately 2,000 students will graduate at Case Western Reserve
University's annual commencement convocation Sunday, May 18, at 9:30
a.m. in the Veale Convocation and Recreation Center.
Geraldine Ferraro, the first female vice presidential candidate on
a national party ticket and former U.S. congresswoman from New York,
will be keynote speaker.
CWRU President Edward M. Hundert presides over his first commencement
as leader of the University.
Undergraduates, graduates and professional school students will have
their degrees conferred at this ceremony. Following the convocation,
diplomas will be presented at separate ceremonies. Receptions are held
to honor new graduates, and precede or follow each diploma ceremony.
Additionally, Julie L. Gerberding, M.D., M.P.H., director of the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention and a CWRU undergraduate and medical
school alumna, will deliver the keynote address at the CWRU School of
Medicine's commencement ceremony at 11:30 a.m. in Severance Hall. Cleveland
Municipal School District CEO Barbara Byrd-Bennett delivers the keynote
speech at the commencement ceremony of the CWRU School of Dentistry
at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Covenant, 11205 Euclid Ave.
