Faculty to receive golden honors
by Jeff Bendix

Three CWRU faculty members—two current and one emeritus—are to receive Golden Achievement awards from the Golden Age Centers of Greater Cleveland.

Honored will be Richard B. Fratianne, professor of surgery at the School of Medicine and MetroHealth Medical Center; M.C. "Terry" Hokenstad, the Ralph S. and Dorothy P. Schmitt Professor of Social Work and former dean of the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences; and Oliver C. Schroeder, the Albert J. Weatherhead III and Richard W. Weatherhead Professor Emeritus of Law and Criminal Justice and founder of the Law-Medicine Center at the CWRU School of Law.

The Golden Achievement awards, now in their 11th year, spotlight Greater Clevelanders age 65 and older whose work has had a significant impact on the lives of older Americans and society's attitude towards aging. Recipients must be actively involved in their vocation or an avocation.

Hokenstad will be honored in the field of gerontology, while Schroeder will be recognized for his work in education and Fratianne for his contributions to medicine. Other areas in which awards are presented include business, community service and the arts.

The awards will be presented at a dinner May 4 at The Country Club in Pepper Pike. For more information call 216-231-6500, ext. 103.
