CWRU will be the site of "Indicators of Financial Health for Nonprofit Organizations," a research seminar on from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 4 in Thwing Center.

The seminar, which will bring together academic researchers, nonprofit managers and business executives to discuss the practical implications of current research on economic issues affecting nonprofit organizations, is open to the public at a cost of $35 per person, which includes lunch.

Co-sponsors of the event are CWRU's Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations, the National Center on Nonprofit Enterprise and the Center for Nonprofit Policy and Practice at Cleveland State University.

Janet Greenlee, associate professor of accounting at the University of Dayton, will serve as presenter for the seminar. Her research interests include accounting and disclosure issues pertaining to tax-exempt organizations. Plato, executive vice president of United Way Services of Greater Cleveland; and Gary S. Shamis, managing partner of Saltz, Shamis & Goldfarb Inc.

The Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations was established in 1984. Its mission is to enhance the effectiveness of nonprofit leaders and the organizations they serve through education, research and community service. The Center's graduate program is ranked in the top 10 nationally among more than 200 programs of its kind by U.S. News and World Report magazine. The Mandel Center is a partnership of CWRU's Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, Weatherhead School of Management, School of Law and College of Arts and Sciences.

The National Center for Nonprofit Enterprise serves as a vehicle for nonprofit leaders, managers, researchers, scholars, business leaders and consultants to expand understanding of and accelerate critical thinking about how nonprofits can use their economic resources more effectively to address their social missions. The Center for Nonprofit Policy and Practice works to enhance the capacity of nonprofits to improve the quality of life for their constituents through stewardship of the nonprofit sector in Cleveland and the region.
