Raechelle Grier, a member of the support staff in the undergraduate
academic affairs office and a 27-year-employee of CWRU, died on
April 3.
In recent years, in the Office of Undergraduate Studies, Grier
helped keep track of and check graduating seniors' requirements,
prepare the commencement program, proofread diplomas and calculate
degree honors.
Her attention to detail, problem-solving skills and knowledge
of computer encoding made her an important member of the team
that has implemented the computerized degree audit program.
Grier earned her bachelor's degree from CWRU in May 2000, after
pursuing courses part-time for many years under the staff tuition
waiver program.
In her memory, the Raechelle Grier Fund is being established
to provide an annual award to be given to a staff member who is
enrolled as a non-degree or degree-seeking undergraduate at CWRU.
Contributions, payable to CWRU, may be sent to the Raechelle
L. Grier Fund, Office of Undergraduate Studies, Baker 102, 7028.
