George Aronoff, senior partner at the law firm Benesch Friedlander
Coplan & Aronoff LLP, has been named honorary chair and James
Koehler, partner at the law firm Gallagher Sharp Fulton & Norman,
has been named chair of the CWRU School of Law's current $25 million
comprehensive fund-raising campaign, "Leading the Way in Legal
Education."
"We are honored to have two of our most distinguished graduates
as alumni leaders of our Leading the Way campaign," said Gerald
Korngold, dean and McCurdy Professor of Law. "Their input will
be extremely important and will help ensure success of this ambitious
campaign."
Aronoff graduated cum laude with his bachelor's degree in 1956
from Western Reserve University (predecessor to CWRU). He was
first in his class when he graduated Order of the Coif from CWRU
School of Law in 1958, where he was associate editor of the Law
Review.
He served as director of several public companies and is a trustee
of CWRU and the Cleveland Orchestra. He also is a member of the
law school's Visiting Committee and a member of the school's honorary
Society of Benchers.
Koehler earned his bachelor's degree from the College of Wooster
and graduated Order of the Coif from the CWRU School of Law in
1973, where he also was associate editor of the Law Review
and editor of the Journal of International Law. He was
inducted into the law school's Society of Benchers in 1997 and
has been vice-chair and co-chair of the law school's annual fund
campaigns.
He has served in numerous roles in the Law Alumni Association,
most recently as president from 2000-2002. Koehler currently is
a member of the law school's Visiting Committee.
The Leading the Way in Legal Education campaign, which began
in 1999 and was made public last fall, is the largest in the school's
history and has raised $18.7 million to date.
