Graduate students take honors at first ever Research ShowCASE

More than 600 faculty, staff and students displayed their research at the first ever event.

Shirley M. Tilghman, president of Princeton University, gave the keynote address at Research ShowCASE 2003.

Five graduate students were honored at Research ShowCASE 2003 as winners of the poster competition. They are:

First Place:

Gabriela Voskerician, department of biomedical engineering, Case School of Engineering and School of Medicine, for "In vivo inflammatory and wound healing response of sequential well opening of drug free MEMS micro-reservoir delivery devices."

Additional authors were Rebecca Scheidt Shawgo, Aaron Lynn, James M. Anderson, Michael J. Cima and Robert Langer.

Second Place:

Carolyn Nieman, Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, for "Use Of The Broselow Tape May Under Resuscitate Children."

Additional authors were James Merlino, Dennis Super, Christopher Manacci, Lisa Lorenz, Harry Rees, Charlene Mancuso and William Fallon.

Third Place:

James Conway, department of physiology and biophysics, School of Medicine, for "Analysis of the macrophage and foam cell proteomes."

Additional author was Michael Kinter.

Fourth Place:

Akshay Kokil, department of macromolecular science & engineering, Case School of Engineering, for "Synthesis and Properties of Semiconducting Conjugated Polymer Networks.

Additional authors were Irina Shiyanovskaya, instructor; Kenneth D. Singer, professor of physics; and Christoph Weder, associate professor of macromolecular science.

Fifth Place:

Jun Ye, department of marketing and policy studies, Weatherhead School of Management, for "Change Sans Tears: Understanding Change Process for Frontline Employees in Service Organizations."

Additional authors were Jagdip Singh, professor of Marketing and Policy Studies, and Detelina Marinova, assistant professor of Marketing and Policy Studies.
