Braden was accountancy
professor
Andrew Braden, who was a member of the CWRU accountancy faculty
for 40 years, died March 30 in Mentor. He was 86.
Braden joined CWRU in 1946, when he began his master's degree
at Western Reserve College, and taught accountancy until 1986
at what is now the Weatherhead School of Management. He also served
as assistant dean of the management school.
When Braden retired, the Andrew D. Braden Foundation Fund was
established by alumni, friends and faculty of the accountancy
department to recognize a tradition of dedication and excellence
represented by his many years of service to the professional accountancy
community as a teacher, administrator and author.
The Andrew Braden Award has been presented annually by the accountancy
department to an individual in the professional community recognized
by peers to have made important contributions to the discipline.
In addition to his work at CWRU, Braden taught for two years
in Austintown, worked for Ernst & Ernst and is a U.S. Navy veteran
of World War II.
At CWRU, Braden also pitched on the faculty softball team for
many years.
He earned a bachelor's degree from Kent State University in 1939.

Kuhl served as
former Adelbert College dean
Lawrence William. Kuhl, 81, former dean of Adelbert College,
died March 28 in Alexandria, Va.
In addition to his teaching and service at CWRU, Kuhl worked
at Ohio State University, the University of Rochester and the
University of Nevada at Las Vegas.
Originally from Cleveland, Kuhl lived in the Washington, D.C.,
area and was a docent at the Smithsonian Institution's National
Air and Space Museum.
He graduated from Bowling Green (Ohio) State University and received
a doctorate in dramatic arts from CWRU.
During World War II, he was a bombardier with the Army Air Forces
in the South Pacific.
