Two staff members in student affairs have received promotions
designed to enhance the progress of CWRU's student life facilities
planning process, known more informally as "The New CWRU."
Don Kamalsky has been promoted to assistant vice president for
student affairs and director of housing, and Sue Nickel Schindewolf
is now assistant vice president for student affairs and director
of residence life.
In his new role, Kamalsky will continue to oversee housing operations,
residence life and Greek life and will collaborate extensively
with campus services, dining, information services, plant services
and security.
"Don has provided exceptional leadership to housing and residence
life for a number of years and over the past year has taken on
significant responsibility in planning of the new North Residential
Village," said Glenn Nicholls, vice president for student affairs.
"His work in the implementation of this plan is critical to the
realization of the New CWRU vision."
In her new position, Schindewolf will continue to oversee residence
life and programs and collaborate with undergraduate studies and
other campus colleagues. She also provides leadership within student
affairs on women's issues, serving as an advocate for and working
closely with the Center for Women.
In addition, Schindewolf holds other important University-wide
roles, including working with students, faculty and staff affected
by sexual harassment and sexual assault.
"Schindewolf's new position emphasizes the roles she plays in
collaborating with faculty and staff to develop the programmatic
components of the living-learning environment in a way that will
encourage academic linkages and increase opportunities for collegiate
experiences consistent with the CWRU culture, vision and mission,"
Nicholls said.
