"Opportunities and Obstacles Facing Women and Minorities" will
be the topic of a seminar sponsored by the CWRU Women's Law Association
from 5-7 p.m. April 16 in Room A59 of the law school.
The keynote speaker for the event will be U.S. Rep Stephanie
Tubbs Jones, (D-Ohio) a 1974 graduate of the law school. Jones
is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and the Committee
for Standards of Official Conduct. Before being elected to Congress
in 1998 she served as prosecutor for Cuyahoga County.
Panelists will be: Deborah W. Yue, attorney with the law firm
Gallagher, Sharp, Fulton & Norman and member of the Minority Outreach
and Publications Committee of the Cleveland Bar Association and
the Asian American Bar Association; Meena Morey Chandra, assistant
regional attorney for the U.S. Department of Education's Office
for Civil Rights; and Timothy J. Downing, an attorney with the
law firm Ulmer & Berne L.L.P., where he litigates claims of harassment,
retaliation and discrimination.
