Center has new online calendar

The University's Center for Women has a new Web site, which includes a calendar of events and activities. Go to http://www.cwru.edu/provost/centerforwomen.

Radio station to host telethon

WRUW FM 91.1 will host its 21st annual on-air telethon April 7-13.

WRUW FM, CWRU's non-profit, volunteer-run, non-commercial college radio station, will be offering special premiums to thank listeners for their support. These gifts include CDs of all genres, WRUW clothing and accessories and the opportunity for listeners to guest host their own on-air programming at the WRUW studios during their favorite shows.

Tax-deductible contributions in the form of cash, check and credit card can be made by calling 368-2208.

Nominations for med award due

Today is the last day to submit nominations for the 2003 Humanism in Medicine Awards.

The award, sponsored by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation, honors an outstanding faculty member role model and a graduating senior who best demonstrate excellence in science and compassionate care.

Book group celebrates 40 years

CWRU's Association for Continuing Education (ACE) will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its Discussion Day from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 14, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at Fairmount Boulevard and Coventry Road in Cleveland Heights.

This year's discussion is on Amos Oz's The Same Sea (translated from Hebrew by Nicholas de Lange in cooperation with the author).

After the discussion, Yair Mazor, professor of Hebrew literature, Biblical literature and comparative literature at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, will talk about Oz and his writings. A question and answer period follows lunch and his talk.

The event is free for ACE members or $15 for non-members. Lunch is an additional $15 for non-members and $11 for ACE members, or individuals can bring their own food.

Reservations are needed by April 7. Call the ACE office at 368-2090.

Submit community activities

CWRU is compiling a directory of ways in which University individuals and small groups are active within the community.

Faculty, staff and students can add their leadership activities, including volunteer work, service learning, board service and other activities to the University's roster of community resources at http://www.cwru.edu/pubaff/entryform.htm.

Food drive to be conducted

Educational Support Services and Material Support Services will conduct a Harvest for Hunger food drive March 31 through April 4.

All nonperishable foods are welcome. The six most needed items are peanut butter, tuna fish, beef stew, boxed pasta, canned vegetables and canned baby food.

Donations can be made in the lobbies of Adelbert Hall, Baker, Cedar Avenue Service, Peter B. Lewis Building, Thwing Center, Tomlinson, Yost and the Biomedical Research Building (by the security desk).
