by Jeff Bendix

As the nation celebrates National Social Workers month in March, Cleveland-area social workers will present awards to a professor and student at CWRU's Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences and to two Mandel School alumnae.

Honored will be M.C. "Terry" Hokenstad, the Ralph S. and Dorothy P. Schmitt professor of social work and former Mandel School dean; Busara Sauda, a master's degree student and recipient of a Louis Stokes fellowship; and alumnae Edith Paller and Joanne Ballard Robinson.

The awards will be presented at the 2003 annual banquet of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), Ohio Chapter, Region 3 (Cuyahoga County) on March 5 at the Play House Club of the Cleveland Play House.

Hokenstad will receive the chapter's lifetime achievement award, while Sauda has been named MSW student of the year, Robinson has been named social worker of the year and Paller will be honored for outstanding service to NASW.
