More than 200 learn about smallpox

More than 200 healthcare workers and members of safety forces filled the auditorium at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History for a conference on smallpox vaccination planning.

According to Nathan A. Berger, chair of the conference and director of the CWRU School of Medicine's Center for Science, Health and Society, "The program was to alert health services personnel, safety forces, and the general public about the government directive for pre-event smallpox vaccination, to make them aware of regional planning activities and arrangements, and to provide a forum for discussion of unresolved issues and late-breaking information."

The program was co-sponsored by the Center for Science, Health and Society, Program in Continuing Medical Education, School of Medicine, and Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing; Cuyahoga County Board of Health; City of Cleveland Board of Health; Center for Health Affairs; Academy of Medicine of Cleveland/Northern Ohio Medical Association; and Cleveland Museum of Natural History.
