The official Request for Proposal (RFP) for UWIN2, the University-wide
Integrated Information System, has been issued to three software
companies and is expected back in early October.
The RFP includes detailed functional requirements-based on online
surveys from hundreds of CWRU employees-for finance, payroll,
human resources and student records as well as more general database
applications.
CWRU plans for UWIN2 to be a campus-wide database that will include
student records and incorporate administrative support, like purchasing
and grant management. The UWIN2 project also includes alumni information,
which is currently being implemented with the Sunguard/BSR Advance
client server software.
The three companies to receive the RFPOracle, PeopleSoft
and SCTgave on-campus overview presentations of their services
to the UWIN2 Planning Committee this summer. The top two companies
that respond to the RFP are scheduled to return and give more
detailed demonstrations, based on the requirements outlined, to
the entire campus community November 4-7 and November 11-14.
After the major vendor is selected, the UWIN2 committee will
identify any additional companies needed to meet requirements
not covered by the core software system.
The committee expects to submit a completed business plan, along
with recommendations for the main and any gap vendors, to University
administration in early January, with implementation of the software
scheduled to begin in March.

this summer, e-mail uwin2@po.cwru.edu.
Information is available online at http://www.cwru.edu/its/uwin2
and during the next UWIN2 brown bag information session, from
noon to 1 p.m. October 10 in 13 Crawford Hall.
