SatCo accepts course proposals

CWRU's SatCo, Saturday College, is accepting proposals for new courses. Past SatCo classes have ranged from history and parachute jumping to dance and cemetery tours. The courses do not require grades, homework or tests. Proposal forms are available at http://ess.cwru.edu/vision/ and are due September 27.

Lecture in religion scheduled

Mark C. Taylor, the Cluett Professor of Humanities at Williams College, will present the 2002 Ratner Family Lecture in Religion at CWRU. He will talk about "Networking Education" at 4:30 p.m. September 27 in 309 Clark Hall. To learn more, contact Tim Beal at 368-2221.

New procedure for visa renewal

All international students and scholars at the University under F-1 and J-1 visas who need to renew their visas before returning to the United States must visit either the Foreign Faculty and Scholars Office or International Student Services before departing. New procedures are in place at U.S. consulates that require electronic notification by universities before visas will be issued.

Kauer fund accepts donations

Donations in memory of Robert T. Kauer, adjunct associate professor of banking and finance at the Weatherhead School of Management, can be made to the Robert Kauer Memorial Scholarship Fund, care of the Weatherhead School, Room 350, Peter B. Lewis Building, 7235. Kauer died Sept. 12 after playing squash at the Veale Center.

Williams opens Work-in-Progress

The Baker-Nord Center for the Humanities will begin this year's Work-in-Progress Colloquium with the talk, "Dopefiends and Drug Dealers: Narcotics in Postwar Urban America" by Rhonda Williams, assistant professor of history. The program begins at 4:30 p.m. today in the Baker-Nord Center at 206 Clark Hall. Refreshments are available at 4 p.m.

During the work-in-progress series, faculty members in the humanities have the opportunity to share current research projects with their colleagues and other interested people on the CWRU campus. For details, call 368-0528 or e-mail bakernord@po.cwru.edu.

Mini-Med School to begin Oct. 2

The CWRU School of Medicine's Mini-Med School—"Medical School for the Rest of Us"—runs on five consecutive Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m., beginning Oct. 2 and continuing through Oct. 30. All sessions are held at the School of Medicine.

The fall series will cover issues in lung cancer, neurology, pediatrics, orthopedics and immunology. Enrollment is limited to the first 100 people to register. The fee is $75 for the entire series. For more information or to register, call 368-2408 or 368-2975, or go to http://cme.cwru.edu.

New FedEx drop near Adelbert

A new FedEx self-service drop-off box is located on the south side of Adelbert Hall on the new walkway to the Case Quad next to the loading area for the Pytte Science Center.

Using the drop-off box instead of calling FedEx for a pickup will save a sender $6 on most packages. The new box was supplied by FedEx in large part due to efforts of the Adelbert Suite Representatives.

Other campus FedEx drop boxes are in Sears Library and the Pytte Science Center.

Jones Optical has eyeglass sale

Joseph M. Thomas with CWRU and University Hospitals of Cleveland will conduct a seminar, "Are You a Good Candidate for the LASIK Procedure?
