West Nile resources available online

CWRU's School of Medicine has posted on the Web streaming video of a conference about the West Nile virus conducted May 18 by the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, Cleveland Museum of Natural History and CWRU schools of medicine and nursing.

Now that more cases of West Nile disease are appearing in Northeast Ohio, area health care providers will be seeking additional information to help them differentiate between patients with the flu, other forms of encephalitis and West Nile virus disease. Information from the conference will assist them with this.

In addition to streaming video of the entire conference (segmented into links by presenter), the following resources are available on the site:

  • a link to the County Board of Health Web site
  • the 24/7 case reporting phone and fax numbers
  • the number to arrange for free lab testing from the State of Ohio
  • numbers to call to speak to a clinician with expertise in infectious disease
  • a succinct fact sheet that can be easily printed or saved to a computer.

The page can be accessed at: Continuing Medical Education, http://cme.cwru.edu; the School of Medicine, http://mediswww.cwru.edu/; or the University (by clicking "cwru today" or "Case cares"), http://www.cwru.edu
