CWRU's second annual Heritage and Cultural Celebration will be
conducted from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. November 7 in the Thwing Center
Excelsior Ballroom.
The goal of the event is "to bring the Case Western Reserve University
community together in celebration of our diversity and to foster
an inclusive environment so that all members of CWRU may achieve
their aspirations," according to Diane Boyce, human resources
employee relations specialist.
Last year, about 500 people attended the event that is an open
house of exhibits and displays that share information about a
variety of heritages and cultures represented within the CWRU
student, faculty and staff communities, Boyce said. All individuals
or groups that desire to celebrate diversity and foster inclusiveness
are invited to exhibit and attend.
Displays at the celebration may include items such as photos,
artwork, crafts, clothing, food and informational handouts, among
others. Participants also may perform cultural music, song, dance,
readings or other activities to demonstrate the richness of their
heritage or culture.
Exhibitors that request a display table are responsible for decorating
and staffing their display. Audiovisual equipment will be provided
for performers.
To register to exhibit at the celebration, complete the registration
form available on the Human Resources Web site at http://www.cwru.edu/finadmin/humres/eerel/culture.html
and submit it by 5 p.m. October 18. Forms can be faxed to 368-6721
or sent via campus mail to Heritage & Cultural Celebration, Employee
Relations, Crawford Hall Room 304, LC 7047.
