Dell offers computers to CWRU at reduced cost

In an unprecedented agreement, CWRU will enter into a four-year partnership with Dell Computers to offer select blocks of PCs, notebooks and other computer peripherals to the University community at significant savings.

In addition to extraordinary discounts, the terms and conditions of the contract include maintenance packages for institutional purchases by the University as well as individual purchases by its students, faculty and staff. And, for the first time, the deal extends to the CWRU's Strategic Technology Affiliates, including the Cleveland Institute of Music, the Cleveland Institute of Art, the Cleveland Museum of Art, University Hospitals of Cleveland, the Cleveland Clinic and the Cleveland Municipal School District.

Under the agreement, the new standard PC-based on criteria established by CWRU's Information Technology Services in consultation with the University community-that sells on the Dell Web site for nearly $2,000 will be available to CWRU and its affiliates for less than $1,130, a price that includes the new gigabit ethernet fibercard. High-end notebook configurations, as established by ITS Customer Support and Satisfaction, with wireless fiber optics connectivity and three year's parts and onsite labor priced at over $3,400 now will cost individuals $2,145.

All purchases under the agreement can be made online. For more information, go to http://www.cwru.edu/its and click on the ITS E-store.

For questions related to procurement, contact Phyllis Miller at pnm4. New leasing information with Dell Computers also is expected to be released within the next several weeks for those interested in consolidating their leasing requirements for technology through Dell Lease.
