Basch takes campus planning position

Kenneth A. Basch has been appointed to the newly created position of vice president of campus planning and operations, which will combine the management and operations of facilities with the physical planning for future development of campus.

"The new structure will strengthen our ability to interface with both internal and external groups as we implement the campus master plan and is consistent with most comprehensive research universities," Rhonda Gross, senior vice president for finance and administration, said in a statement.

Basch's appointment has been approved by the Board of Trustees and became effective July 1.

With the establishment of this new position and with the retirement of Ken Kutina, the vice president for institutional planning position Kutina held will no longer be needed.

Basch has been with CWRU since 1980. During his twenty-two year career at the University, Ken has held various positions, including facilities management, environmental safety, real estate and property management, risk management and insurance, human resources and treasury. Most recently, Basch has been the associate vice president for facilities management and operations.

He serves on the boards of the Medical Center Company and the Parklands Fund and is a member of the Risk Management Advisory Committee of the United Educators Insurance Company. He is a member of several industry organizations, including the University Risk Manager's Association, Association for Physical Plant Administrators and Society for College and University Planners.

Basch earmed a B.S. in management from the Ohio State University and an MBA from CWRU.
