Roberta H. Lubetkin, who served as an editor
of CWRU Magazine and director of the University's office of periodicals
from 1988 to 2000, died in May of complications from cancer. She
was 48 years old.
She had been working in the development
department of University Hospitals of Cleveland at the time of
her illness.
In the mid 1980s, Lubetkin worked as editor
and managing editor for Northern Ohio Live. She was a technical
editor and writer for the Dalton Newport architectural engineering
and urban planning firm in the 1970s. Lubetkin also wrote grants
for the Cleveland International Film Festival and directed public
relations at the Cleveland Institute of Art.
Lubetkin served as a free-lance copy editor
and proofreader for Random House Books for Children, was a past
trustee of the Ruffing Montessori School, a past member of the
English and communications department's advisory board at Notre
Dame College of Ohio and an Ohio Reads tutor.
She holds bachelor's and master's degrees
from John Carroll University.
