Party on the Quad to feature '70s theme

CWRU's annual Party on the Quad returns this July with a 1970s theme.

New this year to "That '70s Party on the Quad," which is from 4-6:30 p.m. July 26 on the Case Quad, will be an air band contest. Faculty, staff and students can imitate their favorite '70s-era band by lip syncing and pretending to play musical instruments to one of the group's hit songs.

Prizes also will be awarded for those best-dressed like the character of a television show or movie popular during the decade. Employees and students also can learn to "Do the Hustle" and take disco dance lessons during the party, as well as take a '70s history quiz. Prizes include a one-year family membership to Cleveland Botanical Garden, two family-of-four admissions to the African American Museum, two tickets to a Cleveland Indians baseball game, a family four-pack for The Western Reserve Historical Society and overnight accommodations at The Glidden House.

Hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, chips, sodas and brownies will be served for those with a CWRU ID. In case of rain, the party will move indoors to the Tomlinson Hall gallery.

The Department of Human Resources hosts the annual event in partnership with the Staff Advisory Council.

Registration forms for the air band concert can be found on the Human Resources Web site. They should be returned to Gail Shipley, 304 Crawford Hall, 7047.
