Work on card access control system beginsPhase I of the University's four-year transition from the existing card access control system to a newly purchased system is underway, with project work beginning in the School of Law, Mather Memorial and Veale Center. The plan entails adding a new head-end monitoring system and replacing field panels, leaving the majority of the field hardware and peripherals in place. Employees do not need to take any action, and existing CWRU ID cards will be used in both current and new systems. All faculty, staff and students who have access to the School of Law, Mather Memorial or Veale Center will be assigned identical access into the new panels. Final cutover for these facilities began this week and is scheduled to end in late March. Details on the transition are forthcoming. Additional information can be found online at http://www.cwru.edu/finadmin/security/access/conversion.htm. Information also will be disseminated from contact personnel within each of the three buildings. Phase II of the conversion is expected to begin in mid-May.
