Continuing its efforts to implement governance reforms adopted
last month, the CWRU Board of Trustees has voted in a slate of
18 standing committee heads, 10 of whom are new to these leadership
positions.
With the addition of vice chairs, committee leadership has been
expanded from 12 to 18 trustees. The board now consists of nine
rather than 12 committees, all with vice chairs as well as chairs,
and chairs are no longer automatically appointed to the executive
committee.
This year, three women have advanced to a total of four leadership
positions, where there were none before, and committee heads continue
to include one African-American. Two of the leaders are newly
elected trustees, and three are from outside the Cleveland-metro
area.
Charles P. Bolton and Frank N. Linsalata remain chair and vice
chair, respectively, of the executive committee. They are joined
by two additional vice chairs, Sally Gries and David P. Hunt.
On the academic affairs committee, former chair Timothy J. Callahan
is joined by new vice chair Edith Lauer, and in finance David
P. Hunt is teamed with new vice chair Peter S. Hellman.
Heading the committee on trustees are chair William E. Bruner
and new vice chair Joie A. Gregor. Gregor, who is also a member
of the executive committee, is one of four trustees elected to
the board in October. Another of the new trustees, Harold McRae,
will serve as vice chair of the university relations and development
committee, while Anthony E. Champ retains the chair position.
Russell J. Warren remains chair of the audit committee, and David
A. Daberko will serve as vice chair. In investment, Joseph H.
Thomas remains chair and Allen H. Ford becomes vice chair. James
A. Ratner chairs the campus planning committee, with vice chair
Charles J. Koch.
The three standing committees that have been dissolved include
the tech transfer committee, which has become a presidential advisory
committee. The new group will be chaired by Joseph Keithley, a
member of the board, but have non-trustee members. In addition,
the committee on student life has been fused with one on academic
affairs, and management compensation functions will be assumed
by the board's executive committee.
