Fisk to team up
CWRU and Fisk University, a historically black liberal
arts college in Nashville, Tenn., are teaming up in one
of the most distinctive collaborations in the country.

Continuing its efforts to implement governance reforms
adopted last month, the CWRU Board of Trustees has voted
in a slate of 18 standing committee heads, 10 of whom are
new to these leadership positions.

Tech
transfer dollars increase
CWRU's revenues from licensing technology developed at
the University have jumped 50 percent in the past year,
and the number of invention disclosures the University has
received has increased by 44 percent.

to speak at commencement
Geraldine A. Ferraro, the first female vice presidential
candidate on a national party ticket, will be the keynote
speaker for CWRU's 2003 commencement convocation May 18.

The creation of two new administrative officesan
Office of Community and Government Relations and an Office
of University and Alumni Relationsare the latest changes
in the University's new organizational structure.

The Antarctic Search for Meteorites program of CWRU begins
its 26th annual trip onto the ice fields of Antarctica to
search the blustery, frozen landscape for pieces of Mars
and other solar system bodies.

Ring
in new year with faster, more flexible e-mail service
Following a pilot and beta test conducted by Information
Technology Services over the past six months, the new SunOne
messaging service, known more generically as an IMAP or
Internet Message Access Protocol system, soon will be available
to faculty, staff and students.

After raising $5,000 for two area schools with its second
annual basket raffle, the CWRU Staff Advisory Council continued
with its community service efforts.

Two CWRU alumnae, Viola Startzman Robertson and Jennie
S. Hwang, were among the 12 women inducted into the Ohio
Women's Hall of Fame.

on the draft of the University's vision statement, this
time in response to the revised version.

Thomas A. Zawodzinski Jr., the F. Alex Nason Professor
of Engineering, Ohio Eminent Scholar for Fuel Cell Research
and director of the Case Advanced Power Institute at CWRU,
was a featured speaker at Cleveland State University.

President Edward M. Hundert presents CWRU alumnus Cheng-Wen
(Ken) Wu, president and distinguished investigator of the
National Health Research Institutes, Taiwan, with the President's
Award for Distinguished Alumni.
