The University-wide Integrated Information (UWIN2) planning committee
has selected two vendorsPeopleSoft and SCTwho will
be demonstrating their products on campus this week and next month.
All vendor presentations are open to the entire campus community.
Faculty, staff and students who plan to attend need to e-mail
uwin2@po.cwru.edu to indicate
which presentations they are interested in. Seating is limited
and is provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
"This is a very important step in the vendor selection process,
and input from faculty, staff and students is essential," said
Bob Jefferis, UWIN2 project director.
PeopleSoft began its demonstrations this week and will conclude
today with human resources/payroll and data warehousing and reporting.
SCT will present the first week in December, covering student
administration December 2 and 3, financials December 4 and human
resources/payroll and data warehousing and reporting December
6. Both companies also are expected to give an overview to the
extended president's cabinet during a closed session. All presentations
are in Enterprise Hall room 330.
PeopleSoft and SCT were the top two companies responding to the
University's RFP for an integrated, campus-wide database of finance,
payroll, human resources and student records as well as more general
applications.
After the campus forums, the UWIN2 planning committee will recommend
to University administration one of the two vendors and then identify
any additional companies needed to meet requirements not covered
by the core software system.
The committee expects to submit a completed business plan in
early April, with implementation of the software scheduled to
begin in July.
A complete calendar of vendor demonstrations is at http://www.cwru.edu/pubs/cnews/2002/11-7/uwin2cal.pdf.
For more information on the project, go to http://www.cwru.edu/its/uwin2

Monthly UWIN2 brown bag information sessions also are conducted.
The next is from noon to 1 p.m. December 12 in 13 Crawford Hall.
