Wittke winners start lectures

The new Wittke Lecture Series, which features winners of the Carl F. Wittke Award for Undergraduate Teaching, begins with 2002 winner John Orlock from the theater department on "The Sound of Wallpaper: Teaching Theater" and Mano Singham, a researcher in the physics department and a 2001 winner of the award, on "Physics: The Art of Making the Invisible Visible."

The lectures are at 4:15 p.m. November 12 in the 1914 Lounge, with refreshments at 4 p.m.

W-2 address updates needed

To ensure prompt delivery of W-2 forms in January, faculty, staff and working students must make sure their correct address is on file with the University.

Employees should report address changes by December 20 to human resources in person at Crawford Hall room 220C, by e-mailing HRrecords@po.cwru.edu or calling 368-3270.

Graduate students can e-mail address changes to the payroll office at the University West Building Room 357, e-mail payroll@po.cwru.edu or call 368-4292.

Undergraduates should contact student employment in Room 410A of Yost Hall, e-mail sla3@po.cwru.edu or call 368-4533.

Duplicate W-2s will not be issued until after February 14.

Sontag to speak on campus

Susan Sontag, whose talents range from writing to filmmaking and directing to promoting human rights, will give the talk, "In America: A Reading and Discussion with Susan Sontag," at 4:30 p.m. November 13 in Strosacker Auditorium. For more information, call 368-0528.

New play competition conducted

The University Memory and Aging Center of CWRU and University Hospitals of Cleveland is holding a new play competition in an effort to raise awareness about Alzheimer's disease in African-American families.

Entry forms are available at http://www.memoryandagingcenter.org or at area libraries or theaters. The deadline for a synopsis of the play is December 20.

Wu to address civil rights

Frank H. Wu, professor of law at Howard University School of Law, will speak on "Difficult Decisions: Civil Rights During Wartime" at the CWRU School of Law's annual Frank J. Battisti Memorial Lecture.

The free lecture will take place at 6 p.m. November 7 in room A59 of the law school.

ShowCASE calls for abstracts

To participate in Research ShowCASE 2003, abstracts of presentations must be submitted by January 10.
