CWRU community can dedicate a place to sit that stands for more

Members of the extended CWRU community have a new, unique opportunity to honor or remember someone or something special.

The CWRU Farm Bench Dedication program at the University's Squire Valleevue and Valley Ridge Farms provides contributors the chance to dedicate a place to sit that stands for more-a four-foot teak English garden bench, designed by Smith & Hawken, that will be placed in a designated area at the farm.

The bench will include a bronze plaque to be engraved with any message that may serve as a dedication or gift to or in memory of a person or organization.

A donated bench also represents a dedication to CWRU. Half of the $2,000 gift will cover the purchase, installation and maintenance of the bench. The remainder will be used for repairs to the multipurpose room at the Dairy Barn in the Valley Ridge area of the farm. The room is an art teaching facility that is currently being used during spring and summer for outdoor sculpture and ceramic art classes.

Several distinctive outdoor sites for the benches at the farm have been selected based on accessibility, likelihood of use and maintenance.

To participate in the Farm Bench Dedication Program, call the farm office at 368-0275 or contact Ana Locci, farm director, at abl3@po.cwru.edu.
