Emeritus professor Sally Loftus, a former faculty member of the
Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences and one of the persons
responsible for developing the Mandel School's Intensive Weekend
Program, died October 16 at her home in Rocky River. She was 76.
Loftus was a 1968 graduate of what was then the School of Applied
Social Sciences. After graduating she joined the school's faculty
as a field instructor and was later promoted to assistant professor,
where she taught community organization and planning. She served
as director of continuing education for five years prior to her
retirement in 1990.
Loftus was active in Catholic organizations, serving on the board
of Catholic Charities Services. She received a special award from
the Cleveland Catholic Diocese in 1999 for her work in the Diocese's
Church in the City program.
A native of Scranton, Pa., Loftus also earned a bachelor's degree
from John Carroll University.
Services for Loftus were held October 21. Donations may be made
