Richard Rodriguez—award-winning author, journalist and lecturer—visited with members of the College Scholars Program while on campus to give the keynote address for CWRU's 2002 celebration of Humanities Week. Rodriguez discussed his autobiographical book, Hunger of Memory: The Education of Richard Rodriguez, in which he chronicles his personal journey from a close-knit Mexican family into the mainstream of the American public. The book was part of a summer reading program, new to orientation this year, for all incoming undergraduates.
