In an international study of two indigenous highland populations in Tibet and Bolivia, which CWRU anthropologist Cynthia Beall led, the researchers found high levels of nitric oxide (NO) in the people's lungs. Their findings offer new evidence about how the highlanders have adapted to high-altitude living. Results appear in the November 22 issue of Nature. |

Two new staff members have joined the Office of University Communication, which is responsible for publishing Campus News, working with local and national media, and overseeing electronic communications on campus. Laura Martinez Massie is now director of media relations, and Paula Baughn is editor of Campus News and the office's Web director. |
