Robert Savinell has been appointed dean of the Case School of Engineering and the George S. Dively Professor of Engineering at CWRU. Savinell, a resident of Solon, has served as interim dean of CSE since September 2000. His appointment as CSE dean was effective December 10 and will have a 10-year term. |

In one of three changes that signal new approaches for CWRU in increasing faculty diversity, Interim President James Wagner has appointed faculty member Beth McGee as the affirmative action officer for faculty. With McGee's new appointment, these activities will move from the Office of the Provost to the Office of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity, and the affirmative action office will be renamed the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity. |

Lynn Singer has been named interim provost, after action at the December 5 meeting of the Executive Committee of CWRU's Board of Trustees. Singer has been vice provost for planning and assessment since April 16. |

Nicole Ingram (left) of the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs talks with Chuck Britvan, an actor from Hale Farm and Village, before a special concert to celebrate CWRU's 175th anniversary. The event was held December 3 in the Reinberger Chamber at Severance Hall with an audience of 400 invited guests. The concert featured members of the Cleveland Orchestra, the University Singers under the direction of Todd Wilson, Brad Blackham on piano, and CWRU's Tom Fulton as narrator.
