Spartan Scorescompiled by Creg Jantz, sports information directorAIR ELI: Spartan sophomore quarterback Eli Grant (Brooklyn, NY) broke two CWRU and University Athletic Association individual game records in the team's 34-51 loss at Chicago. Grant was 37-62 with 396 yards and two touchdowns, breaking former CWRU quarterback Fred DiSanto's mark of 57 attempts in a single game, former CWRU quarterback Nick Leskiewicz's record of 28 completions, and former Carnegie Mellon University quarterback Chris Dee's record of 379 yards passing. Grant was named UAA Offensive Football Player of the Week for his achievements. In just four games Eli is 93-143 on the season for 1,083 yards and 10 touchdowns. TALENTED TRAINER: Barbara Moore, CWRU's head athletic trainer since 1994, has been inducted into the Heidelberg College Athletic Hall of Fame. Moore, a resident of Perry and a 1992 graduate of Heidelberg, spent most of her college career throwing things. She was a standout thrower for the Heidelberg women's track and field team for four years, before picking up softball during her fifth year. Moore was a three-time NCAA Division III National qualifier, making the trip once each for her exploits with the discus, shot, and javelin. She earned All-American status in the discus. She was an 11-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection in track and field, while setting the OAC record in the javelin during her career. She still holds the discus and javelin records at Heidelberg. Not only was she the team MVP, Moore also was a team leader and a three-time captain of the women's track team. On the softball field, Moore was the starting catcher and finished with a .300 batting average. Moore became a certified athletic trainer after receiving her master's degree from West Virginia University.
