PCUEL releases final report on "Education through Experience"

Expanding on the white paper it released in March, the President's Commission on Undergraduate Education and Life has submitted its final report on "Education through Experience." Faculty review of the report has now begun. PCUEL chair Glenn Starkman has been named associate provost for the undergraduate initiative. He will work with faculty to develop and implement programs in undergraduate education and life.

The Sherman Fairchild Foundation has given $3 million to establish the Agnar Pytte Professorship in Physics. The announcement came during the October 5 dedication of the Agnar Pytte Center for Science Education and Research.

Constancy of change permeates State of the University addresses

Medical school breaks ground for Wood Building addition

Officials from CWRU and Richard Fleischman Architects broke ground October 2 for a new research wing which will connect to the Harland Wood Building at the School of Medicine. The new science wing will add more than 50,000 square feet of space to the medical school, primarily for research laboratories. The $20 million project also will renovate more than 30,000 square feet of laboratories and offices on the fourth and fifth floors of the Wood Building.
