Staff Advisory Council to celebrate 10th anniversary
CWRU's Staff Advisory Council will celebrate its 10th anniversary later this month with a week of activities.
SAC was established in 1990 to serve as an advisory group with both administration and staff to propose, comment, and provide feedback on policies and issues that affect the University and the people it serves; to establish and maintain a forum for communication between University staff and administration on all levels; and to establish and maintain a forum for communication among staff of the University.
- Open forum: The Fringe Benefits and Personnel Policy Committees will sponsor an open forum with Nancy Suttenfield, vice president for finance and administration, and Earl McLane, associate vice president for human resources, at noon Monday, May 22 in Strosacker Auditorium.
- Pastry sale for charity: The Community Service and Elections Committees will sell breakfast and bakery items from 8-9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 23 in several locations -- the Kelvin Smith Library oval area (or the Thwing Cetner garage as a rain site), the Biomedical Research Building lobby, Tomlinson Hall gallery, the University West lobby, and the Enterprise Hall lobby. If interested in donating bakery items, e-mail Terri Geiger at tam, Christy Kehoe at cxk15, or Theresa Emerson at tme. Proceeds will be donated to charity to be determined.
- Staff Recognition Committee display: The Staff Recognition Committee will host a display from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 23 in the Tomlinson Hall Gallery highlighting its activities. The committee reviews nominations and recommends recipients for the President's Award for Distinguished Service, plus helps the Department of Human Resources plan and host the Party on the Quad each summer.
- Anniversary luncheon: Current and former SAC members and officers are invited to a luncheon at noon Wednesday, May 24 in 13 Crawford Hall. Mark Lastition, who was SAC chair in 1994-95, will give the keynote address.
- Staff Development Seminar: Ilinda M.J. Reese will deliver a Staff Development Seminar address on "Humor in the Workplace," co-sponsored by SAC's Staff Training and Development Committee and the Department of Human Resources. The event runs from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 25 in Strosacker Auditorium. Reese is president of IMJ Resources Inc.
