The June 1998 edition of the CWRU-TV News Service is ready to provide your station with FREE news features for broadcast. The features are timely and suitable for morning, noon, evening, and weekend broadcasts. Reporter voiceover is on a separate audio channel, should you wish to remove it in favor of your own. Features are shipped in BetaCam or 3/4-inch tape format. They include extra interview, B-roll, and script on tape. The features are free for unrestricted news use, and all broadcast permissions are granted.

NEW EAR RECONSTRUCTION (1:45) -- Doctors at the Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry have developed more life-like prosthetic ears, and a procedure to install them more securely. Already successful for adults, CWRU doctors have developed the prosthetics for children, and are evaluating the physical and psychological effects.

PHOTODYNAMIC CANCER THERAPY (1:53) -- Medical researchers at Case Western Reserve University are harnessing the power of light, to target and kill cancers. Using a technique called photodynamic light therapy, doctors are able to focus harmless laser light on hard-to-reach cancer cells, tagged with a photosensitive chemical. The light activates the agent, which kills the cancer.

GREEN TEA FIGHTS CANCER (2:09) -- The latest discoveries of the cancer fighting properties of green tea. CWRU's doctor Hasan Mukhtar has found that the active ingredients in green tea trigger a self-programmed cell death among cancer cells, called apoptosis. The cancer cells commit suicide rather than be killed by the anti-cancer agent.

NEW GEHRY BUILDING (2:15) -- Case Western Reserve University has unveiled a new building for its Weatherhead School of Management. Designed by world-renowned architect Frank Gehry, designer of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, the building boasts some fancy twists and turns.
