INTERVIEW: "Someone wants a picture of say, Jupiter. Well, they'll just be able to go to our Web site, tell us they want a picture of Jupiter, and give us some other information and we will try to obtain a picture of Jupiter for them. We can't guarantee it because we don't know what the weather's going to be, etc., but we will make a best effort. It's the largest telescope in the world that the general public will have regular access to. They will have access to any of the instrumentation and capabilities that a professional astronomer would use. This also means they will be getting data that a professional astronomer would get." What we wanna do is basically pull the public in, into the world of the scientist and show them what they do by allowing them to perform some of the functions that we actually do." (TRT 0:24)
