It is a pleasure to announce the appointment of the Presidential Search Committee that will work on the University's behalf during the coming months to help identify a permanent president for the institution. As announced earlier, the firm of Isaacson, Miller, Inc., has been retained to assist in the search. Working with us from the firm are John M. Isaacson of the Boston office, one of the firm's founders, and Barbara R. Stevens, Vice President, in the Washington, D.C., office.
The charge given to the Presidential Search Committee by the Board of Trustees calls for a complete and broadly based search, with a careful screening of all candidates. Final selection and appointment of the president is done by the Trustees. Since confidentiality is crucial to the success of such a search, there will be no release of names of candidates during the process.
Finally, let me invite each of you to nominate persons you feel should be considered for the presidency by the committee. Send nominations, along with any contact and supporting information you may have, to the Presidential Search Committee, in care of Susan J. Zull, Secretary of the Corporation, Adelbert Hall 317, location code 7010. As staff for the Board of Trustees, Susan Zull is serving as the committee's coordinator.
This marks the beginning of an exciting process to identify the University's new president, a process that is fundamental to Case Western Reserve's future and that of this community. I hope that you will think carefully about the requirements of the position and the opportunities facing the University, and that you will share your suggestions with us.
