The event takes place Saturday, December 6, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Ford Auditorium of Allen Memorial Library, 11000 Euclid Avenue. Conference tickets are $30 and are available through Ticketmaster. Case students can register for free tickets by visiting http://www.cwru.edu/events/amm. One of rock and roll's seminal figures, and a Rock Hall inductee in the inaugural class of 1986, Holly charted the hit records "Peggy Sue," "Rave On," "That'll Be the Day" and "Oh Boy!" and inspired bands including The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and the Hollies. The conference, directed by Case professor Mary Davis and Rock Hall Vice President of Education Warren Zanes, will bring together a diverse group of scholars and musicians to explore Holly's rich contribution to American popular music. Greil Marcus, author of works including Mystery Train and Lipstick Traces, will give the keynote address; other participants and panelists include Bill Malone, author of Country Music USA, Maria Elena Holly, Tommy Allsup, Marshall Crenshaw, Joe Ely, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, John Goldrosen, Nanci Griffith, Jim Henke, Wanda Jackson, Lenny Kaye, John Mueller and Bill Pinkney. The Conference is just one of this year's American Music masters events. Other programs honoring Holly include a Jam at the Rock Hall on Friday, December 5, with the Raveonettes; a sold-out tribute concert at the Cleveland Play House on Saturday, December 6, featuring John Mellencamp; and a Buddy Holly Exhibit at the Rock Hall.
