CLEVELAND—CWRU's Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations has received a $500,000, two-year grant from The Cleveland Foundation to support the Mandel Center in carrying out its mission to build nonprofit capacity through education, research and community services.

The Cleveland Foundation grant will be used to fund several major new initiatives at the center, including recruiting a senior researcher to help build its infrastructure to support not-for-profit research; sponsoring seminars and conferences to enable professionals, policymakers and civic leaders to gain additional knowledge about the not-for-profit sector; expanding the center's collaboration with local, state and national institutions; and launching an Executive Leadership forum.

"This funding will allow the Center to serve the community in new ways, improving the health and performance of organizations so vital to the quality of life for residents in our area," said Susan Lajoie Eagan, executive director of the Mandel Center. "Coupled with the recent grant from the George Gund Foundation the Center can now begin expanding both its research and community services programs."
