AARP Foundation Women's Scholarship Program

The AARP Foundation Women's Scholarship Program third round is open until March 31, 2009. Applications are online only at www. http://www.aarpfoundationwlc.org.

The scholarship is open to low-income women 40+. Priority is given to women who are in one of three categories: 1) women raising the children of another family member, 2) those in dead-end jobs and 3) those who have been out of the paid workforce for an extended period.

The scholarships, which ranged from $500 to $5,000, are to be used for tuition and books are paid directly to the educational institution.

Nearly three hundred women were helped through the program in the first round and about 250 women received scholarships in round two. The program is funded by AARP with generous support the AARP Foundation Women's Circle.

A National Internship Program in Feminism and Public Policy

The Feminist Majority and Feminist Majority Foundation seek highly motivated undergraduate students who aspire to become leaders in the feminist movement to serve as interns in our Washington, DC and Los Angeles offices.

The Feminist Majority Foundation, one of the nation’s leading research and advocacy organizations for women’s rights, develops creative long-term strategies and permanent solutions for the pervasive social, political, and economic obstacles facing women. Through educational and research projects the Feminist Majority Foundation seeks to transform the public debate on issues of importance to women’s lives. The Foundation also publishes Ms. Magazine in editorial offices in Los Angeles and publishing offices in the greater DC area.
