The Linor Documentary Project

We are looking for rape/sexual abuse/sexual assault survivors who are looking for an opportunity to share their story and help other survivors.

Do you know anyone who would like to be interviewed for a documentary about rape survivors around the world?

The Cleveland Rape Crisis Center has been invited to participate in The Linor Documentary Project, a film being created to increase awareness of rape around the world and help survivors tell their stories. The film has been initiated by Linor Abargil who won the Miss World crown in 1998 six weeks after she was brutally attacked and raped. Learn more about Linor and the film at: www.linordocumentary.com.

Linor will be the keynote speaker at the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center’s 35th Anniversary Luncheon on September 9.

CRCC will then be coordinating Linor’s interviews with rape survivors on Thursday, September 10 and Friday, September 11. Some of these interviews will be used in the documentary.

The interviews will be conducted at the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center’s offices. We will ask participants to reserve one hour of time for the interview. The camera will be running. Participants will be joined by Linor and a small, discreet crew.

From Director/ Producer Cecilia Peck:

“Linor feels that it's very important to give survivors a voice, to let people know that they didn't ask for it, that it wasn't their fault, that they're not ashamed, and that the rapist hasn't succeeded in isolating or silencing them by what he (or she) did. (Those) we have filmed thus far have found it very healing to think that what they went through can be part of a film that can let (others) know they're not alone, and that will hopefully lead to giving victims more credibility in the eyes of the police and the courts, and lead to longer sentences.”

Prior to the Interview:

Participants will be asked to sign a media release form. We would like to collect some basic information about your story to make sure that the survivors chosen to participate represent diverse backgrounds.
We will ask participants to talk to the film’s producer on the phone before the interview to prepare.

If you are interested in participating, contact Sondra Miller at the CRCC at 216-619-6194 x 114 or sondram@clevelandrcc.org
