The Flora Stone Mather Center for Women employs a full time Health Advocate who is available for confidential individual council to all students on campus.

 

Monica Yost, is our Health Advocate. She is available to meet with all students at the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women in Thwing Center and provides privileged & confidential individual counseling or brief consultation in a safe environment

Programming

More information

As part of the Health Advocacy programming, the center is active in campus-wide events such as "Take Back the Night" during April - National Sexual Awareness Month, and "Purple Night Lights" during October - National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

 

We also offer workshops and seminars to campus groups and organizations.

 

Sexual Conduct

Monica is Chair of the Sexual Conduct Committee which reviews policies and procedures on campus related to sexual assault and sexual harassment.

 

She can provide confidential consultation to students seeking guidance about sexual conduct policies and procedures.

 

The task force was formed in May 2005, and members represent a variety of campus organizations with responsibilities that touch on some aspect of sexual conduct. It advocates for a safe campus, where ethical relationships and mutual respect among students, faculty, and staff are expected and encouraged.

About the Heath Advocate

Case Western Reserve University

 

Monica comes to us from Akron Children's Hospital, where she was a therapist/trauma specialist. She has worked extensively with adolescents and college students. At the University of Michigan she worked in University Health Service as the Alcohol Program Coordinator. As an extern in that office, she focused on sexual health, providing workshops and counseling in that area. Upon arriving in Cleveland, Monica served as an HIV Case Manager at the AIDS Task Force of Greater Cleveland. Prior to her wok in Akron, Monica worked as an Outpatient/School-Based Therapist at Bellefaire Jewish Children's Bureau.


Monica has two master's degrees, one in Public Health and one in Social Work from the University of Michigan. She received her BA degree in Psychology from the State University of New York in Binghamton. Monica is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and has taught it to others. Monica is a Licensed Independent Social Work Supervisor (LISW-S) in the State of Ohio. Special Note: Monica will be getting married in June 2012 and will change her name then to Monica R. Yost Kiss.
