About the NCA Self-Study

Every 10 years Case Western Reserve University is evaluated for institutional re-accreditation by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. January 23-25, 1995, the university will be visited by 11 consultant-evaluators from the North Central Association. Their task is to conduct a thorough examination of our self-study report and the supporting evidence, visit with administrators, faculty and students, and recommend to NCA on our fitness for continued accreditation.

For this accreditation review, the university has chosen the option of submitting a self-study report with special emphases. The areas selected for closer attention and advice from our visiting team from NCA are: Undergraduate Education, Continuing Education, Research, and the Electronic Learning Environment. The steering committee and four subcommittees, composed of faculty, staff, and some student representatives, have been engaged in self-study since last winter. A preliminary report is available for review now.

It is very important that the whole of the university community knows that we are engaged in this self-study, and that everyone has the opportunity to review our report. Questions and comments should be addressed to the members of the Steering Committee (named below) or to the Provost's Office: Lynne Ford, Self-Study Coordinator, at (216) 368-4315 or e-mail lef@po.cwru.edu; or the Office of Public Affairs: Jean Gubbins, (216) 368-5557 or e-mail jeg2@po.cwru.edu.
