Academic Decathlon Team Web Page Directory (and Review)
A web page for each high school team should not only reflect the school but also the involvement and character of that team in competition and outside. To that end, I am listing all the "homepages" for various Academic Decathlon teams with my own ranking and commentary to improve everyone's homepages for the sake of the high school competition community.
Each web site is reviewed for content, organization, aesthetics, and information on each school program. The web pages are listed in alphabetical order by school. All criticisms are meant to be taken constructively or tongue-in-cheek.
I realize some of you are probably doing a lot of construction, so let's hope you will be ready for my next series of grades when classes resume in the fall.
If you'd like your web page included and reviewed (or better yet, see a rival's web page potentially get trashed), send requests to Emil Thomas Chuck. I'll try to get around to it when I have time.
Review began 11/30/2000 11:58:16 AM. 22 schools reviewed.
This includes removing totally lost links that are listed on USAD and other organizations' web sites.

Gold Medal Sites
- Garland TX
- Very good aesthetics, and some interesting pictures of life outside of competition. You also need to fill in a few holes that you have (news, stories).
- Catholic Memorial WI
- Fill in a few holes here and there (a few blank pages with nothing), but overall, a nice site with lots of scanned stuff.
Silver Medal Sites
- Duncanville TX
- Beware of that panther roar.
- Hill Crest UT
- A.K.A. "The twisted side of Academic Decathlon." Well, I'll give them points for entertainment and for having the guts to have comprehensive biographies on the team. I can't quite figure out how this page is organized though.
- Moorpark CA
- Nice photos of the group. How about some info on the names of the students, the coaches, and some more contact information/history about yourselves other than just how well you all did. The "history" and "pictures" pages are good starts.
Bronze Medal Sites
- Belmont CA
- The site looks aesthetically clean, and some of the animation is nice, but the front page has to be THAT LONG??? I wish there could be more about the program itself, like who their coaches are and other team trivia than just "Shut Up, Kathy."
- Burbank CA
- "XNTRX", eh? I'm not sure about that embedded music, but a rather cool site.
- Not to be confused with the much more recently updated site by Juan Carlos "nosferatu" Ramos. Though I suppose the site pretty much embodies the amount of hard-core cynicism most of us develop about AD. If you can imagine the kids from South Park playing AD... actually it would be even cooler. But I digress...
- Dixie UT
- It's very neatly organized. Any more info on the team?
- East (Green Bay) WI
- Let me know at some point when you have decided on a team.
- Miramonte CA
- The media site shows great potential, but unfortunately, not enough items were that entertaining, and one should have a description of the pictures rather that just having us look straight into all the pics themselves. Why you have one entire page on the USAD calculator policy befuddles me.
- Northern Valley High School
Academic Decathlon
- Not bad... seems like they have a good history section.
- Pine Tree (Longview) TX
- Really nice intro with a .wav file no doubt. You need to check your text since a lot of your links and text run into each other.
- Sabino (Tucson) AZ
- Well, you have some interesting information on the team, for what you have put up so far. Check the "missing" links that seem to be common throughout your pages.
- San Marcos TX
- You might want to consider minor reorganizational changes to make the page manageable. You may also want to do some updating.
- James E. Taylor TX
- Why you should put everything on your history on one page I guess is an administrative decision.
Certificate Sites
- Belen NM
- Stuck in a time warp in 1997.
- Central CA
- Is there more stuff you can actually write about than just the curriculum?
- Cibola AZ
- Decent aesthetic layout, but not all that much info.
- DeSoto TX
- Who are you?
- Highland NM
- Sorry to say, but I don't think this page has been updated in a few years.
- New Plymouth ??
- "Medels??"
- Ridgewood NJ
- What about your team?
- Tipton IA
- Type your text here when you find out what you want to put up.
- West High CA
- Nice info page, but there's nothing here on your team.
