The Great Lakes Regional Academic Championship (GLRAC) was held on Saturday, March 23, 2002, on the campus of Case Western Reserve University, in Cleveland, Ohio.

Congratulations to State College Area High School for winning this year's tournament. This year's runner-up team was Dorman High School (South Carolina), with the semifinalists Detroit Catholic Central and Detroit Country Day.

The top two teams from the tournament are eligible to compete in the PACE National Scholastics Championship, to be held June 15-16, 2002, at George Washington University in Washington DC. If our field size is over 40, the semifinalists will also receive automatic invitations to the NSC.

Entry fee schedule
Early Entry Deadline: February 15
Regular Entry Deadline: March 1

For GLRAC, all teams will be charged the following:

$85 for each team of four, with no more than two alternates
$65 for each additional team

a $10 discount for each functioning buzzer system, with one light recognizing each player in a two-team match

a $10 discount for each experienced moderator; the moderator must be able to read for all of the preliminary round games

a $20 discount will be given for checks sent prior to February 15

a $10 discount overall if your team competed at any two of these tournaments: the High School Celebrity Shoot, Buzzerpalooza, the Maryland Fall Classic, BGSU Falcon Fall Classic, BGSU Snow Bowl, or Ohio Academic Decathlon State Championship this academic year

Minimum entry fee is $35 per team. A set of questions is included with your entry fee.

Invitations were mailed to schools across Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and New York as of November 16. To make sure you are invited, please contact the Tournament Director, or you can download a copy of the invitation using the free program Adobe Acrobat Reader.

On-line team roster registration is available.
