The Japan Connection is a student run, USG recognized, non-profit club at Case Western Reserve University. Our purpose is to promote interest in the language and culture of Japan through social, cultural, and educational activities. Our main activities are (1) informal discussions every week or two (see events page) and (2) events such as guest speakers, calligraphy demonstrations, trips to Japan-related places/events, and Japanese food demonstrations. All events are free unless otherwise specified.

Purpose:
Promote interest in the language and culture of Japan through social, cultural, and educational activities.

  1. Name of Organization
    • The Japan Connection
  2. Functions of Organization
    1. The Japan Connection shall provide a forum for students and faculty to learn about the culture and language of Japan.
    2. The Japan Connection shall encourage interaction between Japanese students with other nationalities to promote a better understanding of the similarities and differences in their respective cultures.
    3. The Japan Connection shall sponsor related activities such as Japanese calligraphy classes, cooking/food demonstrations, film presentations, and shall co-sponsor the Japan Fair with the Asian Studies Group held each spring.
  3. Membership and Elections
    1. Membership is open to all interested students and faculty of C.W.R.U.
    2. Meetings shall be held at least once monthly with special activity meetings held occasionally in addition to the regular meetings.
    3. Elections for the offices of President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasurer shall be held at the end of each Spring semester. The officers shall be elected by the membership of the club.
