Let it be resolved that: The PhD Nursing Student Association be recognized by the Graduate Student Senate in accordance with Article VI of the Graduate Student Senate Bylaws and granted all the rights and privileges due a recognized graduate student organization. =========================================== Motion # 2000.06 Funding for PhD Nursing Student Association Sponsors: GSS Student Organizations and Allocations Committee Whereas: The PhD Nursing Student Association is a gradate student group, recognized by the Graduate Student Senate and they have requested two hundred fifty and 0/100 dollars from the Graduate Student Senate for the 2000-2001 academic year to help fund a speaker and activities in celebration of Nursing Week. And that this request is recommended for approval by the GSS Student Organizations and Allocations Committee. Let It Be Resolved That: The Graduate Student Senate grants $250 (two hundred fifty and 0/100 dollars) in funds to the PhD Nursing Student Association. =========================================== Motion # 2000.07 Funding for Korean Graduate Student Association Sponsors: GSS Student Organizations and Allocations Committee Whereas: The Korean Graduate Student Association is a graduate student group recognized by the Graduate Student Senate. And the KGSA has requested two hundred fifty dollars to fund their activities, primarily consisting of a summer and winter party. And the GSS Student Organizations and Allocations Committee has recommended that no (zero) funds be awarded to the KGSA primarily on that basis that they reported a membership of 60 graduate students that are suppose to pay a membership fee of twenty five dollars each and that the funds raised from membership fees alone should be sufficient to fund their planned activities. That this membership fee is not accurately documented or explained in their bylaws is also of concern to the Orgs & Allocs committee. That other sources of income including donations from churches and merchants cannot be reported even in "ball-park" terms is also of concern to the committee. Let It Be Resolved That: The Graduate Student Senate denies the funding request of the Korean Graduate Student Association.
